Introduction
|
FormationSome of my clients look for coaching in formation flying, without including aerobatics. Indeed the aircraft they have may not be suitable for pulling ‘g’ or rolling inverted but wish to nevertheless, enhance their handling skills on type. A recent example were two privately owned Aztec twin-engined aircraft that had found themselves going to the same destination on many occasions. Why not learn how to fly safely and with more confidence when in close proximity? We also applaud the idea of specific formation training clinics. An example is well established at North Weald that runs two formation training weeks, one in the spring and the other in the autumn. I usually run a special section devoted to Extra aircraft owners at these courses – usually finishing with very proficient formation aerobatics qualified pilots in teams up to four aircraft. With prior notice, Skyhawk Aerobatics can arrange suitably qualified
teaching partners to assist with the task – providing owner/pilots
with the unique challenge of disciplined formation technique. It must
be added that this type of tuition only works with two or more seating
capacity in each aircraft. |
