I have yet to meet an owner pilot who is nonchalant about their new toy! And when the realisation dawns the new toy has performance and characteristics miles ahead of you, the urge to test and explore its capabilities is compelling! Engaging a professional coach accelerates that learning process and ultimately saves time and money.
I have worked with pilots from all walks of life as individuals, but collectively defined by an aspiration to achieve a degree of excellence. Some want to face the challenge and discipline of competitions, whilst others simply enjoy the personal expression of three-dimensional figures. Which is what modern aerobatics is all about!
How it works
I’ll come to you and train you in your own aircraft from your home base. This removes all the extra bits of distracting knowledge required when attending a fixed base facility or being in unfamiliar airspace. I’ll help you with familiarisation on the new type, and then to explore the characteristics and performance of the aircraft. We’ll also define your particular skills (and potential areas for improvement!) and what you’re aiming to achieve.
Coaching is really straightforward with a two-seat aircraft as I’ll be in the cockpit with you. With single seat aircraft I’ll give ground-based critique, usually with VHF communication, to talk you through what goes well and what needs more practice!
I can travel to anywhere in the UK, and given sufficient notice I can operate in most countries overseas. I have recently, for example, worked with pilots in Romania, Lativia, Bulgaria, Italy, Jordan, New York and Arizona.
My speciality is focussed on freestyle programmes – particularly suited for pilots who aim to eventually qualify for display flying.
Ordering a new Extra?
Skyhawk Aerobatics is a recognised Instructional Facility with the Extra aircraft factory near Dusseldorf in Germany and I regularly travel to new owners around the world to guide them through conversion training, recurrent training or a more dedicated introduction to type and its aerobatic capability.
Where the Extra is unfamiliar to new owners I can collect from Dusseldorf and deliver to your airfield anywhere in Europe and then spend a few days of extended coaching to fully master the performance available with one of the world’s best production aerobatic aircraft.
