Challenge yourself in the ARC World Tour 2015 - 2016!

Would you like to participate in a unique Air Race Championship series and improve your flying skills with some of the best instructors in the world? Here’s your opportunity!

Applications are now being invited from owner pilots at all levels to compete in the ARC World Tour 2015 - 2016. Successful applicants will undertake an intensive 4-day Pylon Racing Training Camp in Portugal where you’ll learn basic formation flying, race-craft and aerobatics. Next year you’ll compete in an unforgettable series of four races at spectacular water-front locations in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

ARC Air Race Championships 2016

Each race will comprise three classes - Extreme, Vintage and Biplanes - with eight qualifying pilots in each class. The Organising Team are offering a financial package to competitors to cover transport costs depending on factors like existing sponsorship. There will be a full support team for technical and engineering back-up as part of the Tour package. The crucial element is to attend a mandatory Practice Camp to be held at Ponte De Sor in central Portugal. Successful graduates from this training will be issued with a special Race Licence and invited to attend the following Series of Championship events in 2016 and beyond.

Unlike Red Bull air races, where competitors fly against the clock one at a time, the ARC Championship races will comprise the 8 aircraft in each class flying the course simultaneously and starting from a F1 style grid beside a pace plane. Grid positions will be determined by a series of match qualifying races in pairs with an element of slalom and aerobatic turn round figures. Onboard telemetry (fitted by the organisers) will provide precise feedback on each competitor’s elapsed time, speeds and G-loading whist pylon-mounted cameras will accurately capture penalty errors such as cut corners or missed gates!
